Throughout the book, (from We Are the World We Walk Through - Christian Science Re-Explored revised and retitled 1993)) special capitalization has been used to indicate Reality or the Absolute. The relative is indicated with lower case (i.e., mind, as in human mind or human condition rather than Mind which means Principle or God).

Definitions of terms used in an unfamiliar way:

Being—the experience of the creative Life-Principle as knowledge, awareness.

concept—used as meaning an opinion or belief about Being; an interpretation, not the Being itself.

Consciousness—the only reality; aliveness or existence; the continuity and eternality of all identity.

ego—any sense of a person; dualism; the belief in more than one power or action separate from infinite Mind.
Ego (capitalized)—Mind; Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Omniscience. I or Us. That which constitutes individual awareness. Imagination; the creative faculty. The Self-generating and Self-preserving presence.
ego-image—human concept; concept of identity.

Human—a term used for Life itself as it appears on this belief level.
Idea—used as meaning the actual, the real, the Being itself. Awareness. Man. The Mind-idea, Self-manifesting, Self-identifying, Self-reflecting consciousness.

man—the generic concept of identity. The paradoxical statement of what man is and what he is not.
Man (capitalized)—Conscious identity. Reflection. Life; Existence. Evidence. Also see Idea above.

Metaphysical Science—The discernment of the divinity of humanity. Subjective intuition. The discernment of Self-conscious divinity. That with which individual human experience can be diagnosed and discerned in terms of Reality, the operation of Principle, unconcerned with correction or problem solving.
Mind—Consciousness; Presence; the only Power or thought force; Law; the source and condition of all existence; Synonymous with Life, Truth, Love, Principle, Soul, Spirit. These synonyms for what has been termed God are essential in understanding the science of Metaphysical Science. Mind revealing itself as form, outline, beauty, is the creation as revelation beheld on the five-sense level.
Practice—Self-conscious identity lived responsibly as all presence, all power, and all knowledge. The natural fulfillment of self discovery. Human existence living its divinity consciously aware; The recognition of divinity as that which constitutes and governs humanity. Thinking out from Mind.

Science—Spirit awareness; the discernment of Reality; the knowledge of basic principles with which mankind finds that it has no reflection world nor phenomenal or shadow world to deal with and discovers idea, the thing itself, is all there is. Science is the Right, the Good, the Truth, that has no knowledge of anything but its own self-conscious identity: God-Man-Universe.
Substance—Thought; spiritual energy; the form of Mind; the experience of that which is present; Life form.
Truth—The Reality of all appearances; Power; What is so. xiv
